Hannah Esther Minutillo

Carmen at the banks of river Vltava

On June 4th, 2016 Hannah Esther Minutillo is giving a rare guest-performance in her Czech home-country singing the title-role in Bizet’s opera Carmen at the Prague National Theatre. The internationally accepted artist comes originally from the Czech Republic and never ever disregarded the connection to her home-country. Nevertheless her appearances in the Czech Republic have been rare due to diverse commitments in other countries.

Temperament and vocal traits of the role of Carmen are like being meant for Hannah Esther Minutillo who has this specific role in her repertoire since the very early years of her career. Having never changed to more dramatic repertoire despite her vocal development and having remained within the lyric style pays into her account now with the part of Carmen too. Better exploit your full potential than exceed your own limits! Hannah Esther Minutillo always remained true to her artistic credo.

Brokeback Mountain – a film becomes an opera

There is nothing unusual when an opera is turned into a movie; the other way round, however, is the absolute exception: Ang Lee's filmic soul drama of two cowboys, released in the cinemas in 2005, now finds its way to the opera stage. The world premiere of the operatic version for which Charles Wuorinen composed the music and Annie Proulx wrote the libretto after her own short-story of 1997 will be performed at the Teatro Real in Madrid on 28 January 2014. Following dates of representation: 30 January, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 1 February 2014
