Nicolas André will take up his residence at the Hanseatic metropolis as from the new opera season. He is following music director Kent Nagano’s invitation to Hamburg where the first public opera house within Germany opened already in 1678.
After having made guest-appearances in Annecy, Bordeaux, Bruges, Brussels, Hasselt, Paris, Rennes, Rouen and Zaventem during the current season, our Norman born artist will be assisting Kent Nagano at the renowned Hamburg State Opera. Within this engagement he will also be conducting repertoire performances of Carmen, L’elisir d’amore, Die Zauberflöte as well as Hänsel and Gretel among others. He will also be in charge of conducting German composer Philipp Maintz’s new opera Thérèse Raquin upon Emile Zola’s novel of the same title. The new opera will be world-premiered both at the Salzburg Easter Festival and at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie.
