Having been appointed „the best conductor of the year 2016“ in Italy by the magazine GBopera and having been winner of the City of Granada Conducting Competition, Sergio Alapont has become one of the leading conductors of his generation.

And as a matter of fact the list of orchestras which Sergio Alapont has already conducted is most impressive, not in his home-country only, but internationally and worldwide. Just to mention a few: the Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI Torino, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Orchestra del Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France, the Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne, the Janácek Philharmonic Ostrava, the Ulster Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Scottish Opera a. o. Recent Opera productions under his baton include his US-debut with La Rondine at the Minnesota Opera, L'heure espagnole and Gianni Schicchi at the Opera Lombardia, Carmen at the Oviedo Opera, The Merry Widow with the Fondazione Arena di Verona, Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso and at the Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi, Idomeneo at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, La forza del destino and Don Pasquale at the Las Palmas Opera, Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Den Norske Opera in Oslo, Otello at the Teatro Calderon de Valladolid, Roméo et Juliette and Aida in Sassari, Attila at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania or Il cappello di paglia di Firenze and Don Bucefalo at the Wexford Opera Festival.
Upcoming projects include La Bohème at the Irish National Opera of Dublin, The Merry Widow at the Teatro Comunale di Sassari as well as symphony-concerts with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the Spanish Radio & Television Symphony Orchestra and the Harmonie Ensemble-Orchestra.
Sergio Alapont has recorded for the radio-stations RAI, RTVE, RTÉ Ireland, Euroradio as well as for the labels EGT and UNIVERSAL.
Sergio Alapont studied conducting with Donato Renzetti (Pescara), Jorma Panula (Royal College of Music of Stockholm), Helmuth Rilling (Bachakademie Stuttgart), Masaaki Suzuki (Bach Collegium of Japan) and Marco Armiliato (New York). He also received advices from Semyon Bychkov and Antonio Pappano in his early years, having been an assistant to both maestros within numerous opera- and concert-projects.
