Many misunderstand the term career today as publicity hype. However, the true literal sense of the word means the development of an artist’s course over years and decades. Heidi Brunner started outstandingly successful as a mezzo-soprano in the Mozart-Rossini-repertoire. Her high register being reliable as from her early years enabled her to take on soprano-parts later on as well. Concentrating now again on her mezzo-base is no step back, but on the contrary it means a decisive career step forward, always remaining closely connected to the logical development of personality and vocal progress. Wagner, Strauss, Mussorgsky and Poulenc are providing formidable challenges to her.
