After having made her successful role-debut as Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at the Nice Opera exactly one year ago, Gabrielle Philiponet also sang her first ever Marguerite (Faust) with coequal success at the Saint-Etienne Opera among other commitments with various companies. Two opera-parts fitting perfectly to her artistic abilities! Marguerite in Saint-Etienne

After having started this season with a role-debut (Adina in L’elisir d’amore - fitting to her perfectly - at the Nice Opera), Gabrielle Philiponet is concluding the season with another role-debut singing her first Marguerite in Faust by Charles Gounod at the Saint-Etienne Opera. An excellent opportunity for the French soprano to celebrate the 200th birthday-anniversary of the great French composer! Already in January of this year a CD-recording of Gounod’s cantatas and sacred works conducted by Hervé Niquet and with Gabrielle Philiponet as one of the soloists has been released.

Adina at the French Riviera

After successful role-debuts with demanding roles such as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Cosí fan tutte), Mimi (La Bohème) and Violetta (La Traviata) throughout the last two last seasons, Gabrielle Philiponet proceeds to a role which will unquestionably enable her to ideally prove „her fresh even though flaming voice“ (Resmusica), "her rich clay, perfectly controlled vibrato“ (Olyrix), „her elegant vocal line“ (Forumopera), „her velvet voice and undeniable resources of nuances“ (ConcertoNet) and her „absolute grace“ (Ouest-France). Gabrielle Philiponet will be performing as Adina in a new production of L’elisir d’amore staged by Eric Chevalier at the Nice Opera.

Opening night on November 22, 2017. All dates of performances.

From Donna Anna to Fiordiligi

One of the highlights of Gabrielle Philiponet's last season was definitely her Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at Angers Nantes Opera in a striking staging by Patrice Caurier and Moshe Leiser. Some press cuts:

"Gabrielle Philiponet renders a remarkable performance as Donna Anna, vocally with rich clay, perfectly controlled vibrato and heartbreaking rage in the low register. Her way of acting, especially when accurately expressing extreme and even violent emotion is impressing. In her creation Donna Anna is simply obsessed. Although never overacting, her performance of the opening scene makes by itself this staging plausible and understandable to the public. (Olyrix)

"The fresh even though flaming voice of Gabrielle Philiponet works wonders in the aria "Non mi dir“ sung with a touching delicacy.“ (Resmusica)

"One sympathizes with Donna Anna’s vindictive accusation provided by Gabrielle Philiponet with elegant vocal line and excellent accentuation.“ (Forumopera)

"With velvet voice and undeniable resources of nuances Gabrielle Philiponet performs a stirring Donna Anna.“ (ConcertoNet)

"Soprano Gabrielle Philiponet (Donna Anna) modulates her voice with infinite delicacy in order to illumine the drama with absolute grace.“ (Ouest-France)

For the opening of the new season Gabrielle Philiponet is now taking over a new Mozartian role: Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) at the Opéra de Rouen.

Opening night on September 30, 2016. All dates of performances

Amazing re-discovery of the "French Verdi"

The opera Dimitri by the French composer Victorin Joncières (1839-1903) is an inspiring discographic discovery. Not only is this opera beautifully made but it also of an ardent lyricism.
