Re-opening of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden

After causing enthusiasm with both public audience and press by creating a self-confident and modern Micaëla within the new production of Carmen at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence („Elsa Dreisig caresses with her round timbre and enchants with her noble vocal style“ – La Croix, Emmanuelle Giuliani), Elsa Dreisig is concluding the summer season with a spectacular last-minute replacement - once again causing a sensation - in Haydn’s The Creation under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle for the opening of the Berlin Philharmonic season. This program can subsequently be heard at the Salzburg Festival, at the Lucerne Festival and at the Paris Philharmony.

Having been closed due to renovation for several years, the time of the re-opening of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden has finally come! In order to celebrate this historical moment, Daniel Barenboim will be conducting, Jürgen Flimm will be directing and Elsa Dreisig will be singing the part of Gretchen in Schumann’s Szenen aus Goethes Faust. Opening night on October 3, 2017. All dates of performances.

Debut with the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence

Two years ago, she was still a student at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSM). Meanwhile she has drawn attention winning numerous prizes and awards at the main vocal competitions. And she found her perfect working spot building up her repertoire within the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera. This season has been highlighted by her debuts with some of the most prestigious opera companies: the Opéra de Paris (Pamina), the Zurich Opera (Musetta) and, soon, the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence (Micaela in Carmen). All this proves her outstanding talent and the continuous work on her own abilities. We are convinced that this is still only the beginning of a great and long career!

Vocal discovery!

Elsa Dreisig is the "Vocal Discovery" of the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2016 (link). A well-deserved award for an artist whose determination and passion is by far not synonymous with integrity and talent.

Within a few months Elsa Dreisig was awarded both Second Prize of the Queen Sonja International Music Compertition in Oslo as well as First Prize and Audience's Prize of the "New Voices" Competition of the Bertelsmann Foundation in Gütersloh last year. She was recently also granted the "Prix jeune soliste 2015 des radios francophones publiques" (Young Soloist' Award 2015 of the French speaking public radio-companies). First Prize at the "Neue Stimmen" Competition

Elsa Dreisig has just been awarded the First female Prize at the renowned "Neue Stimmen"-Competition of the Bertelsmann Foundation at the Glocke in Gütersloh (Germany) which makes her rise as a new star of the vocal art heaven. The French-Danish soprano already demanded attention this summer when receiving the Second Prize of the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in Oslo. With the current season she is joining the Opera Studio of the Berlin State Opera. Having been cast as Papagena originally, Daniel Barenboim’s Berlin opera company immediately realized her outstanding talent and moved her on to Pamina in Mozart’s Magic Flute, an opera which she was completely familiar with in the early age of five years. We join Elsa`s happiness after the important competition success and congratulate her for her impressing career step. A most sincere Toi-Toi-Toi for the challenging season which awaits her!
